To produce Accoya, only abundantly available wood species are being used from certified, sustainably managed forests and plantations, including FSC® and other regionally certified woods. Therefore all Accoya is compliant with the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR) as well as the Lacey Act, and therefore responsible production is guaranteed.
Fast growing softwood species such as Radiata Pine are primarily used to produce Accoya®. Considering the increasing pressure on available resources, the use of wood species that produce larger volumes of wood over the same time span for the same area of land offers obvious environmental advantages.
WoodBlocX are easy to get onto the site, but they are also easy to work with once the components are there. All the individual pieces are pre-fabricated to exactly the right size, and pre-drilled and mitred as well. Therefore there are no power tools needed to build up the BlocX themselves – no drilling, cutting or sawing is necessary. The BlocX are quick and easy to put together, and there is very little noise created in the process, keeping the construction well within noise limits and the no-cutting on site rule. Furthermore, the pre-cut modular system also means there is no dust and virtually no waste to dispose of from the site (and what waste does accrue is easily carried off site), saving time and money again.
Each timber component of WoodBlocX can now be made from Accoya™ using our specialist cutting system. This innovative solution ensures that we can offer a lifespan to rival and even surpass most hardwoods.
