Landscape Institute Awards 2019

2019 marks the 90th anniversary of the Landscape Institute and we are proud to be one of the sponsors this year’s awards.

The core aim of the awards is to celebrate the value of landscape in connecting people, place and nature, which resonates strongly with the aims and objectives of our business.

We work with landscape architects to create functional and sustainable spaces by combining street furniture with planting for projects within the public realm and private sector. The Dundee V&A development is up for an award and WoodBlocX was proud to be part of the project. OPEN landscape architects led the development of the landscape proposals working with Kengo Kuma and Associates (KKAA) and the rest of the team from Stage 2 through to Stage 6. They specified WoodBlocX as part of the health and wellbeing areas in Slessor Gardens.

Our modular system comprises of a series of wooden bricks which are held together by interlocking plastic dowels to create strong, hardwearing and long-lasting structures that are ideal for planting trees and shrubs with large root balls, making them a viable alternative to railway sleepers, brick, stone and concrete.

The WoodBlocX system can be used to build retaining walls, standalone or continuous raised planters of varying heights and widths, curves and angles can also be incorporated. Seating can be integrated into designs or our street furniture range features standalone options.

All WoodBlocX structures can be tailored to a brief or designed to fit a space perfectly thanks the versatile modular design. The structures are quick and easy to install with no waste or cutting needed reducing the over all build time and can be built directly on a number of surfaces.

Some of our recent projects include a roof garden for student accommodation in Birmingham and the award winning Westfield Stratford cascading planter.
