Abbeyfield Southern Oaks

Bespoke planters for a care home communal garden

Abbeyfield Southern Oaks Retirement Home

Abbeyfield is a not-for-profit charity that provides independent living options for residents with a home-from-home feel by creating a community street feel through the layout of its accommodation and gardens.

WoodBlocX Landscaping was the natural choice for a memorial garden area in the centre of the scheme. The large raised planter design creates an eye-catching focal point within the home’s community garden.

Bespoke design

For the majority of designs, we work with Landscape Architects to bring their designs to life. In this case, the care home contacted us directly with details of their design, and our design team created the design in CAD.

The raised planter design features a long 7.5m x 4.5m planter with a central opening. The height of the design is 0.55m, which allows easy access for maintenance, and the care home’s residents can also get involved in watering and planting thanks to its height.

Creating places for people

From care home gardens like this one and sensory spaces within schools and hospitals to city centres and parklets, the combination of our beautiful, natural timber and our modular system’s ability to adapt to any style of space makes it the perfect choice for a wide range of applications that help to create places for people and enhance the wider landscape.
